The number of ARABTEK shares now is 598,000,000 and the face value of the shares now is AED 598,000,000 if the company increases the face value of the shares in their financial statements to 1,196,000,000 then their capital will increase accordingly and the book value of the share will be increased by the increase in capital. The market value of the share will increase by the same amount. Please check with the Financial Director/ CFO of ARABTEC and ask him if the value of the shares will be 1,196,000,000 instead of 598,000,000.
If you get an answer please let me know.
Please SIMA read the above and if possible get me the information from the Chief Financial Officer of ARABTEC, this information will decide the book value and the market value of the share..
When the company distributes shares instead of cash yes the number of shares will increase but the capital will not increase in it its value. Because we measure the value of the company shares by the value of the Net Assets (Total Fixed Assets+Current Assets+Other Assets) – ( shares Current Liabilities+Long-term Liabilities) which is Equal to Owners’ Equity(Sharholders shares value+Retained Earnings+LegalReserve)

Distribution of cash from the profit will not affect the market value of the share but in practice it reduces the book value because retained earnings(Al Arba7 Al Mu7tagazah) will be reduced by the cash dividends. When the company distributes shares instead of cash it increases the number of shares but Owners’ Equity(capital(Shares face value)+Retained Earnings+Legal Reserve) stays the same. If Owner’s Equity is AED 10,0000,000 and number of shares is 100,000 then the book value of the share is 10,000,000/100,000=100. if the company distributes 1 share for every share then the number of shares will increase to 200,000
but Owners’ Equity does not change then the value of the share will change to 50 (10,000,000/200,000)
The fair market value is the value that represents the current and the future growth in the company business. I explained it before. The market value is the current market value based on the trades on the share which has nothing to do with company business. It is sometimes based on speculation on the share or it moves with the economy as you see it now.
