Once a little boy went to school.
\nHe was quite a little boy
\nAnd it was quite a big school.

But the teacher said, “Wait!”

\nAnd she waited until everyone looked ready.

\n“We are going to make a dish.”
\n“Good!” thought the little boy,
\nHe liked to make dishes.
\nAnd he began to make some
\nThat were all shapes and sizes.<\/p>\n

But the teacher said “Wait!”
\n“And I will show you how.”
\nAnd she showed everyone how to make
\nOne deep dish.
\n“There,” said the teacher,
\n“Now you may begin.”<\/p>\n

The little boy looked at the teacher’s dish;
\nThen he looked at his own.
\nHe liked his better than the teacher’s
\nBut he did not say this.
\nHe just rolled his clay into a big ball again
\nAnd made a dish like the teacher’s.
\nIt was a deep dish.<\/p>\n

And pretty soon
\nThe little boy learned to wait,
\nAnd to watch
\nAnd to make things just like the teacher.
\nAnd pretty soon
\nHe didn’t make things of his own anymore.<\/p>\n

Then it happened
\nThat the little boy and his family
\nMoved to another house,
\nIn another city,
\nAnd the little boy
\nHad to go to another school.
\nThis school was even bigger
\nThan the other one.
\nAnd there was no door from the outside
\nInto his room.
\nHe had to go up some big steps
\nAnd walk down a long hall
\nTo get to his room.
\nAnd the very first day
\nHe was there,
\nThe teacher said:
\n“Today we are going to make a picture.”
\n“Good!” thought the little boy.
\nAnd he waited for the teacher
\nTo tell what to do.
\nBut the teacher didn’t say anything.
\nShe just walked around the room.<\/p>\n

When she came to the little boy
\nShe asked, “Don’t you want to make a picture?”
\n“Yes,” said the lttle boy.
\n“What are we going to make?”
\n“I don’t know until you make it,” said the teacher.
\n“How shall I make it?” asked the little boy.
\n“Why, anyway you like,” said the teacher.
\n“And any color?” asked the little boy.
\n“Any color,” said the teacher.
\n“If everyone made the same picture,
\nAnd used the same colors,
\nHow would I know who made what,
\nAnd which was which?”
\n“I don’t know,” said the little boy.

He liked his new school,
